Hans Webber

From “ The Cortright Family” by Abbott.

“Hans Webber was appointed Captain at Arms to the garrison at Fort Amsterdam (New York) on Sept 28, 1647, and died in 1649.

“His widow (Elsie Pieters van Hamburg) married in 1650 Matthys Capito, removed to Esopus, where she was killed by Indians in 1663.  

“The daughter of Hans Webber and Elsie Pieters was Catherine Hansen Webber.  She married Hendrick Jansen Van Cortright Dec 14, 1672.       

Jan Basiensen Van Kortyk

The following is from “A History of Harlem”, Riker, p 258.

"Jan Bastiaensen came to this county in 1663 from the County of Leerdam in South Holland, accompanied by his brother Michael Bastiaensen who afterwards lived in Harlem."


     The following is from John Howard Abbott, "The Courtright (Kortright) Family," page 25.
"Jan Bastiaensen (van Kortryk), born 1618, at Leerdam, Holland, went to the town of Beest, not far from Leerdam, where he married and where his children were born, these being Cornelis, Hendrick, Laurens, and Belitie. With his brother Michiel and their families, he left for New Amsterdam, embarking in the 'Spotted Cow' April 16th, 1663, and had a bouwery on Staten Island, but probably spent a part of his time at Harlem."
